A 64th distribution substation was constructed on the premises of Kraków branch of Tauron Dystrybucja. It is a 110/15 kV station built in Chomranice (Nowosądecki Poviat) with a 110 kV power line.
Thanks to the new substation, it will be possible to shorten the length of existing medium voltage lines: e.g. the 15 kV Naściszowska-Rożnów line will be shortened from 40 to 15 km. This, in turn, is expected to significantly reduce failure rates.
The station is equipped with two 16 MVA transformers and an 18-panel medium voltage switchgear.
- Chomranice distribution substation is an important element of the network reliability improvement program in the Limanowa and Nowy Sącz Poviats. This area, with the current grid layout, is a challenge for power engineers, as storms and snowfalls especially in early autumn and late spring cause greater network failure - we read in the communication.
The stations will serve not only the residents, as Tauron Dystrybucja's customers include the Klęczany rock mine, a group of fruit producers Zelsad, PKP‘s Marcinkowice substation and a road-building rock mine.
The construction of Chomranice distribution substation was also a challeng.
The project was carried out by PILE ELBUD, which had to locate the substation on a slope and place it largely over a watercourse. This is why it was necessary to perform compaction of soil over a covered watercourse, construct a canal and secure high slopes.
